Conducting a Nature Value Analysis for Kopparfors Skogar

MW Forest Sense, a subsidiary of MW Group, has announced that it will conduct a nature value analysis at Kopparfors Skogar’s forest property in Dalarna, Sweden. The purpose of this remote analysis is to map areas containing indicators for valuable habitats. Through this data fusion and AI-based analysis, Kopparfors will have a comprehensive picture of the environmental values of the area.

Kopparfors Skogar AB is one of Sweden’s largest private landowners, owning 285,000 hectares of land. For Kopparfors, sustainability is a key focus area, that is why they want to understand the nature values of their forests in detail and build a next generation environmental landscape plan, that manage valuable habitats and securing all of the nature values efficiently. As a substantial step towards this plan, Forest Sense will map key indicators regarding valuable habitats.

“In addition to detailed knowledge from field inventories of structures and species over the past decades, we want a consistent overview of critical factors for planning nature conservation. With Forest Sense’s remote analysis we aim to point out some new hot spots to add to our landscape plans.” says Per Österberg, CEO of Kopparfors Skogar.

Forest Sense specializes in remote sensing services for institutional forest owners and forest companies, providing tailored customer services that cover the entire value chain, from customer consultation and data collection to complete plans. Forest Sense is fusing various data sources, analyzing them using sophisticated methods and AI, and providing comprehensive and easy-to-visualize information about the forest that enable better decision-making.

“There has been a rapidly growing interest from institutional forest owners and industry to have more deep understanding of the environmental and ecological values in their forests. For that reason, we have developed innovative remote analysis to address these needs.” says Sixten Sunabacka, Executive Partner of Forest Sense.

“We are looking forward to the results of the analysis and the possibility for an even better overall picture of the state of our forests as we continue to develop them towards better growth, carbon storage and biological diversity.” says Per Österberg, CEO of Kopparfors Skogar.
